A fossil crocodile Boreacalousuchus wilsoni from the Green River formation of southwestern Wyoming. The fossil is from the Early Eocene (50 million years). The crocodile measures 9 feet long and is exceptional in fossil preservation, detail, and completeness. It is among the finest fossils ever prepared by the Green River Fossil Company.

This image depicts a member of our fossil prep team at Green River Fossil Company preparing one of our famous fossil murals. She is using a small Air-Scribe to chip away layers of rock that have covered the fossil for millions of years. The process is slow and labor-intensive. It requires great skill to chip away the stone without disturbing the fossil. Some murals can take days and weeks to prepare.
The fossil kitchen was made by the Green River Fossil Company. The island top and backsplash are made from 50 million-year-old limestone with naturally occurring fossils. In the case of the island top, the fossil stone was honed down flat, to the fossil layers using large and small polishing tools. In the case of the backsplash, the stone was polished and the fish fossils were prepared in shallow relief.

The fossil palm is exceptional in preservation quality and detail. The location of the fossil is a home in Jackson Hole Wyoming, about three hours north of the quarry in which it was unearthed. The fossil dates to the Early Eocene, 50 million years.
This bench was made by the Green River Fossil Company. It measures 7' long and 30" wide. The top is made from a honed piece of limestone with naturally occurring fossils. The fossil shown is a rare Notogoneus osculus. The age of the fossil is 50 million years. The base is made from Steel.
Shown is a fossil tile wall created by the Green River Fossil Company and commissioned by the Rime restaurant, St. Regis Hotel, in Dear Valley Utah. The wall sits at the entrance of the restaurant and contains a variety of fossil fish that date to the Early Eocene, 50 million years. The stone is a sedimentary limestone with naturally occurring fossils. We have laser etched the restaurant's logo into a tile. Green River Fossil Company can create custom walls of any size.
A 60" round fossil stone table on a hand-forged iron base. The table top was cut from our "Fossil Storm" stone layer. The fossils include a large 17" Diplomystus dentatus, and 22- Knightia eocaena. The fossils date to the Early Eocene, 50 million years old. The top has been sealed and protected with two factory coatings of a silicone-based sealer designed to protect it against stains. The base is an artisan hand-forged base that stands 28-1/2" tall, made exclusively for our fossil stone. Overall size: 60" wide x 30-1/2" tall.
A home interior wall made from 50 million-year-old fossil stone tiles. The tiles depict an ancient chase scene featuring a large Diplomystus dentatus chasing a school of small Knightia eocaena. Green River can build these tile walls to any size you might request. We first supply a number of design options specific to your space. Once a design has been approved we supply the tiles cut to size, sealed, and ready to install.
Green River Quarry Manager Matt Helm is at work carefully unearthing a giant palm tree fossil. It is estimated that the fossil will be over 12' in length and over 10' in height. The fossil dates to the Early Eocene 50 million years old. This is truly a one-of-a-kind find! Once the palm tree is removed from the ground it will be transported back to our prep labs in Logan UT, for evaluation and preparation.
Night inspection of fossil stone is common in our quarry. Lanterns provide ideal low lighting angles when searching for fossils. Once found, the fossils are outlined in pencil. The following day our crew will return to cut and remove the fossils.

These are used in applications that include fossil backsplashes, fossil wall cladding, furniture, and fossil flooring. They are prepared and cut by hand from original 50 million-year-old fossil-bearing stone. The stone is unearthed in our private quarry in southwestern Wyoming, the site of a pre-historic lake.

The individual fossils and tiles were prepared and cut by hand. Once complete the stone was sealed with two factory coatings of a silicone-based sealer, designed to protect it from stains. The tiles were then shipped to the home location for installation. Our fossil stone can be installed like other natural stone products.

Our medium is fossil-rich calcium carbonate shale from our private quarry in Southwestern Wyoming. From this stone, deposited 50 million years ago as sediment in a large freshwater lake, we produce individual fossil specimens, artistic fossil murals, and other stone products for museums, private collectors, interior designers and architects. All fossil fish are collected and prepared in adherence to strict guidelines established by the American Association of Paleontological Suppliers Code of Ethics, State and Federal Laws.
