Preparation Process Mural

This mural shows the process of preparation in three parts. We started with three roughly identical Priscacara liops encased in stone. The first section shows what the fossil looks like when we find it in our quarry. In the second section, a small jackhammer called an “Airscribe” has been used to remove the stoneright up to the fossil.

In the third section, a miniature sandblaster has been used to blow the remaining stone off of the fossil. This is possible because the fossil is slightly harder than the stone surrounding it.
